Ladies tag Hardy ‘sexist’ after social media post

Blogger cum Author, Chinedu Hardy Nwadike might have thought he was entertaining his Facebook and Twitter followers when he wrote a post that was supposed to be joke, but turned out to backfire on him as many ladies saw it as an insult.

Hardy who cannot use comedy as his defense because he is not a comedian, made a post that tagged Nigerian ladies as ‘always hungry’ and most of them are not finding it funny.

The post which reads: “Sorry to ask this question.... Are Nigerians girls always hungry?
Any time of the day you say, 'let me take you out',
food is the only thing that comes to their mind.
Hmmmm. ‪#‎Funny” was made on November 5, 2015 via his Facebook [www.facebook.com/hardynwa] and Twitter [www.twitter.com/hardynwa] accounts and most ladies who spoke to us have condemned it as an insult and sexist comments.

One said: “The time has come for men to start showing us some respect. Everything will not be a joke. I know he is not that famous in Nigeria, but there are still people who take him serious and labelling us as hungry people is not good at all”

“Hardy needs to apologize to us. This is more than a joke and if I were his girlfriend, it will be over between us the moment he posted that thing. That post will simple be his goodbye letter to me. I don’t even know what he was thinking”, another said.

Many men however defended Hardy on the issue, but saying he meant no harm and was only trying to keep his followers entertained. But the award winning Imo State born writer who has authored two books so far however put up a little line of defense in the comment box by saying he only asked a question, but it is still hard for most ladies to believe him as they are calling for an end to the insult saying that they deserve respect from Nigerian men.

Although the agitation for more respect is not really about Hardy who is just seen as a scape goat in the issue, another lady said that any man who cannot afford taking a lady out should sit back at home.

“They are being confused by Hollywood movies where people go out on coffee dates and so on. We are Nigerians and on the average, we love nkwobi, peper soup and food. Americans can drink their coffee and wine but we must eat our food. Anyone who cannot afford it should look for a soft drink lady, who will be eating those things behind him.

“Hardy or whatever they call him, has insulted us. He is not the only one and I am so sure that if he can write those words, he can do more against ladies. If he wasn’t joking, I think his girlfriend should leave him”

Further investigations on Chinedu Hardy Nwadike’s timelines shows he is a free minded writer, and he is yet to comment on the ‘sexist’ tag so far.
